Our story

As COVID-19 threatens many people’s access to food and leaves Americans without jobs, Project Isaiah works to keep hundreds of food service workers employed while delivering meals to those in need.

Interconnected challenges

COVID-19 has left millions of workers without jobs, many of whom have never been without a paycheck or needed to rely on charity. As the virus spreads, small-scale food service providers struggle to safely meet the growing need.

In other words, by putting people to work making meals, we can do our part to mitigate both job and food shortages.

“There is serious need out there and what you are doing is of enormous benefit—in sustenance and spirit!”

An all-volunteer effort

Gate Gourmet wanted to find new ways to preserve jobs as air travel slowed down. Together, we saw an opportunity.

The airline caterer has the facilities and expertise to safely produce and distribute large quantities of meals. By focusing on those in need, Project Isaiah has saved jobs while providing much-needed meals, delivered by community-based organizations.

Every penny goes to providing food and preserving jobs.

“The donation of food you facilitated was a major help and emotional lift for our community. Many of our past residents are unable to leave their homes and we were able to bring your wonderful meals to them!”

— Alexandria House, Los Angeles
